The story of Sichang Healing House began more than two decades ago--as the dream of a young nursing student from Ko Sichang, Khun Oppawan Promrit. When she had finished her studies and received her B. Sc. from Thailand's oldest nursing college at Siriraj Hospital, Khun Oppawan spent all the time a busy Registered Nurse could spare on the study of massage and the healing arts of the Orient

At Mitraphap Hospital in Bangkok, she learned therapeutic massage. For the ancient Eastern technique of balancing the body's organs by pressure to different points on the soles of the feet, Khun Oppawan turned to the Foot Reflexology Association of Thailand.

After more than a dozen years in Bangkok, Khun Oppawan was ready to return to her home. With the help of an architect friend from Bangkok, and the skills of her father and his island neighbors, she built a gracious complex of thatched buildings of local bamboo, wood and stone, set in an organic garden of herbs, flowering trees and flowers.

From its opening day in 2002, Sichang Healing House quickly became one of the island's best-loved attractions for Thai and foreign visitors alike. Today Khun Oppawan offers a full range of massage and herbal treatments, and a variety of herbal health and beauty aids prepared by Khun Oppawan and colleagues in traditional well-being around Thailand
